JOSEPH E. GERMANO is Associate Professor of Foreign Languages at the State University College in Buffalo, New York. A native of Italy, he received his Ph.D. in Italian from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, where he also coordinated the Rutgers Italian Workshop Series. He has written articles on Italian literature and culture, and was founder and co-editor of NEMLA Italian Studies.

CONRAD J. SCHMITT, the author of many foreign language books, was Editor-in-Chief of Foreign Languages, ESL, and Bilingual Publishing with McGraw-Hill Book Company. Before that, he taught languages at all levels of instruction from elementary through college, including Montclair State College, Upsala College, and Rutgers University, New Brunswick, and served as Coordinator of Foreign Languages for the Hackensack, New Jersey, Public Schools.

LUIGI BONAFFINI is a professor of Italian language and literature at Brooklyn College/CUNY. His publications include La poesia visionaria di Dino Campana and many translations of Italian poetry. He is also the author of a translation program for advanced Italian students.

FIORENZA CONSONNI CLARK, currently a teacher of Italian and Spanish at the Raritan High School in Hazlet, New Jersey, was born in Italy, received her teacher's certificate in Marche, Italy, and studied at the University of Rome. She also attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

GLORIA ALLAIRE directs the Italian program at the University of Kentucky. She received a bachelor's degree in music and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Italian from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She is the author or editor of several books on Italian literature and has published numerous papers and encyclopedia articles on medieval, Renaissance, and women's studies topics.
