Market / Audience Over 1500 colleges and universities in the US offer graduate degrees in management, business administration, or public administration, and most of these schools require the GMAT for admission to their program.

Currently the number of GMATs administered per year is nearly 220,000. Of that total, 117,000 (53%) are taken by US citizens, mostly within the United States. Forty-seven percent (101,000) of the tests are taken by non-US citizens, mostly outside the United States.

Testing among US citizens grew by about 4% in the past year; testing among non-US citizens grew by 7%.

The GMAT is now available at more than 400 testing centers in nearly 100 countries. In some years up to 60,000 people take the test overseas. The three countries with the greatest average number of GMAT test takers per year are India (approx. 8,000), China (approx. 5,000), and Japan (approx. 5,000). Other countries with significant numbers of GMAT test takers include Canada, France, Germany, Brazil, and Indonesia.
