WILLIAM C. SPRUIELL teaches English at Central Michigan University. He holds a Ph.D. in linguistics from Rice University and B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Florida. He formerly taught at Western Carolina University and the University of Houston. He is the author or coauthor of nearly thirty published articles or paper presentations.
DOROTHY E. ZEMACH is a member of the faculty at Central Michigan University, where she teaches writing and English as a second language. She has a Certificat from the Sorbonne in France, a B.A. from Reed College, and an M.A.T. from the School for International Training. She has taught English, French, and Japanese and served on the staff of schools in Japan and Morocco. In addition to many papers and presentations, she is the author of teachers' manuals for business English and grammar texts.
